Overview of agrometeorological situation of October 20, 2020
According to recent observations, in most of the territory of Belarus, the topsoil is in a moderately moist state. In some northeastern regions of the country, as well as in the extreme southeast of the Gomel region, soil moisture is maintained. The completion of the harvesting of potatoes, the cultivation of the soil, the collection of corn and late vegetables it is difficult in such areas. In the near future, the expected short-term rains will complicate field agricultural work, primarily in the northern region of the republic.
Due to the cooling, the vegetation of winter grains slowed down. In most areas, winter grain crops have a third leaf and tillering. There are shoots on the October crops. In the third decade of October, more active development of winter grains is expected in the southern part of Belarus.
