Review of the agrometeorological situation of September 3, 2019

During the last decade of August because of predominance of dry weather moisture content in soil decreased. However, it’s sufficient for formation of late agricultural crops harvest, seedling emergence and further development of winter rape in many areas. Increased moisture content in soil remains in some areas of Vitebsk region. Because of precipitation deficit content of productive moisture in soil decreased up to moderate values in the south-east regions of Belarus and in Grodno and Brest regions (according to some meteorological stations) and up to low values – in some areas of Gomel region and in the west of Brest region. Moisture deficit worsens conditions for soil treatment and beginning of winter cereal crops sowing, seedling emergence and further development of crucials.
Expected short-term rains should moisturize soil but not everywhere. In the coming days, moisture deficit may still remain in some areas, mainly in the south-east region of the country.
