Climate characteristic of October 2019

Average air temperature in October was +9,5°С that is 2,8°С above climate normal. Such warm temperature is registered for the 2nd time during last 75 years. Such weather was registered in 1967. The highest values of positive deviations from climate normal were registered in Mogilev region (+3,0ºС), the smallest – in Vitebsk region (+2,6ºС).

Temperature regime was uneven during this month.
First decade was cold with average air temperature which was 0,8°С below normal. Second decade was anomalously warm with average air temperature which was 6,0°С above climate normal. Temperature of third decade also was 3,2°С above normal.
Daily temperatures exceeded 20 degrees mark in the warmest days of 2nd and 3rd decades, temperature record were updated in most of the country. Maximum air temperature (+24,8°С)was registered at the meteorological station Bragin on October, 14.
Night temperatures ranged from +1°С to 10°С most of the month, they were negative during the coldest nights. Minimum air temperature (-10,3°С) was registered in Bobruysk on October, 31. 
 
 
Average air temperature and climate normal for decades in the Republic of Belarus 
32,1 mm of precipitations fell out on average in October (64% of climate normal). Precipitations was falling uneven during the month. Vitebsk region was the most moistened with 50,9 mm of precipitations or 86% of climate normal. The least of precipitations was registered in Gomel region – 14,3 mm of precipitations or 29% of climate normal. Such dry situation is once every 7 years.

First decade of October was rainy – 26,8 mm of precipitations on average across the Republic or 153% of climate normal for decade.
Second and third decades were dry – 3,4 mm of precipitations (16,5% of normal) and 2,0 mm of precipitations (12,0% of normal) respectively.

Maximum daily amount of precipitations was registered at the meteorological station Ezerishche on October, 3(26 mm). Precipitations were in the form of rains, in certain days – of snow and wet snow.
Wind speed reached up to 15-20 m/s in some areas. Maximum wind speed (20 m/s) was registered in Polotsk in October, 27. Fogs were registered at night and in the morning.
