Climate characteristic of spring 2019
Average air temperature of spring 2019 was +8,8°С across the country that is 1,9°С above climate normal. In the ordered series from the warmest to the coldest, this spring was 3rd since 1945.
Positive anomaly of air temperature spread throughout reaching the highest values (+2,0°С) in the south-east of Belarus, in the territory of Gomel region, the lowest – in Grodno and Brest regions (+1,7°С on average across the region).

Sustainable transition of average air temperature to 0°С (beginning of spring in climatology) started a month early in Brest region, western part of Grodno region and in the west and south-east of Gomel region (February 1-14). On the remain territory of Belarus – 2-3 weeks early (February 25 – March 4).
March 2019 was warm. Average monthly temperature was +3,4°С that is 3,2°С above climate normal. Such warm March is registered once every 10-13 years.
Minimum air temperature was registered at the meteorological station Ezerishche (-13,5°С) on March, 2.
Average air temperature of April was 8,8°С that is 1,5°С above climate normal. Suсh warm April is registered once every 10 years.
Sustainable transition of average air temperature to 8°С (end of heating season) started 2 weeks early in the south-east on April 5-7, on April 16-22 – in the remain territory.
May 2019 was warm in Belarus. Average air temperature was +14,2°С that is 0,8°С above climate normal.
Maximum air temperature of the season (+28,7°С) was registered at the meteorological station Gomel on May, 28.
Sustainable transition of average air temperature to 14°С (beginning of summer in climatology) was on May, 11-17.
123 mm of precipitations fell out in spring that is 90% of climate normal. Most of precipitations were registered in Brest region (167,7 mm on average across the region or 125% of climate normal), the least of precipitations – in Mogilev region (104,1 mm on average across the region of 81% of climate normal).

7,0 mm of precipitations fell out on average across Belarus in April, that is 18% of climate normal. Such dry April was registered for the first time since the post-war period.

Most of precipitations were registered in Brest region (125,1 mm on average across the region or 202% of climate normal), Such amount of precipitations was registered for the first time in this region since 1945.
