Warm, rainless weather at the end of last week contributed to the maturation of the soil in the northeastern region of the country.
In many districts of the Vitebsk region, the top 10-centimeter layer of soil dried out to a moderately wet state, which made it possible to intensify the sowing of early spring crops here. In the deeper horizons of the soil, the moisture reserves at the beginning of the growing season on the territory of the republic are generally good. Precipitation expected in the coming days should increase soil moisture reserves. In the North-Eastern part of the republic, in areas where the topsoil is waterlogged, field agricultural work will continue to be difficult.
