Overview of agrometeorological situation of April 19, 2022

Passing rainfall and low temperatures are holding back the maturation of the soil in the eastern part of Belarus. According to the latest observations the topsoil is still waterlogged in most areas of the Mogilev region. In the Vitebsk region, the areas with dry soils expanded, which made it possible to increase the rate of sowing here. Strong moisture in the northern region remains on the heaviest soils. In other regions of the republic, the upper 10-cm soil layer is predominantly in a moderately moist state. The lack of heat increases the duration of the period of emergence of seedlings of spring crops, delays the growth of grasses. In the near future, due to cold and rainy weather, conditions for sowing, germination and development of crops, regrowth of perennial grasses will not improve.
