Overview of agrometeorological situation of March 12, 2024
Lowering of the temperature regime hinders the warming of the soil and the beginning of sowing of early spring crops. The freezing of the upper soil layer is noted. The soils which are light in mechanical composition thaw during the daytime, especially on elevated areas and southern slopes. In the extreme northeastern regions of Belarus, a frozen layer remains in the soil. The predominance of sunny weather and a lack of precipitation lead to a loss of soil moisture. Some activation of spring processes, mainly due to daytime warming of the air, is expected in the second half of March, primarily in the southern regions and in the west of the republic, this will increase the pace of field agricultural work.
