Overview of agrometeorological situation of March 2, 2021

According to the results of re-growing on most of the observed fields, winter crops have normal viability in the samples, complete regrowth was observed or the thinning did not exceed natural death. Long-term occurrence of high snow cover on slightly frozen soil caused the development of snow mold in some observed fields in the Minsk region. In the Gomel region, in one third of the samples of winter rape, the sparseness was significant. There was a partial freezing of rapeseed due to low temperatures and uneven snow cover during periods of cold snaps in January and February.
The final outcome of overwintering winter crops largely depends on the weather conditions in the early spring period. In the near future, dangerous phenomena for wintering crops are not expected. In the first five days of March, warm weather will contribute to further destruction of the snow cover and thawing of the soil.
