Overview of agrometeorological situation of May 13, 2020

Past rains in the first decade of May replenished the soil content on most territory of Belarus. Reserves of productive moisture are mostly good according to instrumental determination of moisture detection under crops. Moisture reserves increased on significant territory of Mogilev, as well as in the north of Minsk and Vitebsk regions. Lack of moisture preserved in many areas of Vitebsk region, where rains were insignificant, and also in Gomel region, were the soil was dried up. Moisture reserves in the soil remained low in the south-east of Brest region.
Expected precipitation should increase the moisture content in the soil in the coming days. Prevalence of low temperatures in the second decade of May will restrain the growth and development of crops, especially heat-loving. Predicted night frosts are dangerous primarily for emerged seedlings of corn, the possibility of damage to flowers and ovaries of fruit crops is not excluded.
