Overview of agrometeorological situation of May 18, 2024

The development of sown perennial grasses is ahead of last year's deadlines. In a significant part of the country, the optimal time has come for harvesting early-maturing grasses. In most of the observed fields, the grass stand is higher than it was last year for the same period. In the near future, the warm weather will promote the growth of herbs.
Due to the lack of precipitation, areas with insufficient moistening of the upper soil layer have expanded. According to the latest data, weak moistening of the upper 10-centimeter soil layer is observed in the southwestern part of Belarus and in some areas in the rest of the country.
According to the weather station, the high and low topsoil is dry. The average soil temperature at a depth of 10 cm is mainly
+15 +18°C. Due to the uneven distribution of expected precipitation, insufficient soil moisture may persist in many areas of the southwestern part of the republic.
