By the end of August, moisture reserves under agricultural crops decreased, however, they remained sufficient in a significant part of the republic. Moisture reserves are high in the northwestern and eastern regions of the Vitebsk region, as well as in the north of the Mogilev region, and low in some areas of the Brest Region and the south of the Grodno region.
According to visual observations, the upper 10-centimeter soil layer is slightly moistened in most of Belarus, and in some places in the southwestern regions and in the east of the country, the upper soil layer is dry.
In the near future, warm weather without significant precipitation will lead to a further decrease in soil moisture reserves. The agrometeorological situation will facilitate harvesting operations, the maturation of corn grains and the accumulation of sugars in sugar beet root crops.
