Overview of agrometeorological situation of September 25, 2020
Established dry weather is favorable for harvesting potatoes and sugar beets, corn for grain and silage, vegetables, fodder harvesting, lifting flax trees. Areas with insufficient soil moisture are increasing due to lack of precipitation and elevated daytime temperatures. Topsoil is poorly moistened according to the latest data of visual observations in many areas in the southern half of Belarus, as well as in places in the north-west of the country. Moderately moisture state of the upper 10-centimeter soil layer remains, which contributes to soil cultivation and sowing of winter crops mainly in the central region and in the northeastern part of the country. Optimal time for sowing winter crops is coming to its end in the northern region of Belarus.
Expected short-term rains in a number of regions of Belarus can moisten top layers of the soil and thereby improve conditions for grain germination at the end of September.
