Review of the agrometeorological situation of March 1, 2019

According to the results of repeated growing made in late February, sparseness was not registered in most of winter crops samples or it was nonthreatening. Perennial grass grew completely. Till the end of overwintering winter cereal crops state is better in Brest and Grodno regions – good aftergrowth was observed almost in all the samples. Increased sparseness was registered on site in the rest of the territory as well as significant sparseness of wheat and triticale. Lasting bedding of snow cover with a small frost penetration of soil caused plant weakening in the north-east of Belarus and as demonstrated by growing asphyxiation of winter crops takes place on certain observation fields. According to data of meteorological stations Polotsk and Zhlobin, sparseness is high and very high in the selected samples.
Outcome of overwintering largely depends on development of weather conditions in the prevernal period. In inactive developing of winter processes asphyxiation areas of winter crops can increase, also advance of snow mold is possible on weak sowings.
According to recent data, snow cover was destructed in the south-western part of the country, snow still remains in many areas of north-eastern part. In the first half of March, snow cover will be gradually destructed under the influence of positive daily weather.
