Review of the agrometeorological situation of March 29, 2019

Unsustainable temperature slows soil warming-up. Subfreezing of topsoil is still registered in many areas of Belarus because of negative night temperatures. Average soil temperature at depth of 10 cm is about  +3 +5°С in the southern part of the country, up to +7°С – in the south-west of Brest region. Areas with moderate humid conditions of soil expended here. Mass sowing of early spring crops was made possible in Minsk and Grodno regions as well as in the southern regions. Soil treatment, fertilizer distribution, agrotechnical actions for mulching and winter crops cultivation are carried out on dried sites. According to recent data, soil over-moistening still remains in Vitebsk, and Mogilev regions, on many observation areas in Grodno region and in the north of Minsk region. Field agricultural work here is possible only selectively.
In the last day of March, warm weather predominantly without precipitations will contribute to warming-up and drying of topsoil that will secure a possibility of increased pace of field works and sowings of early spring crops.
