Today, on December 18, the second session of the VII The All-Belarusian People's Assembly is taking place in Minsk. This event, without exaggeration, is one of the key events in the socio-political life of Belarus, determining the vector of the country's development in the coming years.
The main event of the first day is the Message of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly.
About 1,200 delegates from all over Belarus gathered at the Palace of the Republic, representing the interests of various segments of the population and sectors of the economy. More than 700 invitees, including senior officials, representatives of business, political parties, public organizations, foreign diplomats and heads of international structures, also attended the meeting.
In February 2022, the All-Belarusian People's Assembly was granted constitutional status, becoming the highest representative body of the people's power. Now, in accordance with the updated Constitution, the annual Messages of the Head of State are heard exclusively on the site of the ABPA. After the President's speech, delegates have the opportunity to ask him questions.
On the second day of the ABPA, December 19, delegates will have to approve the Program of Socio-economic development of the Republic of Belarus for 2026-2030. Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Turchin will deliver a key report on this issue.
In addition, the meeting will include the election of a new member of the Presidium of the ABPA, as well as consideration of personnel issues related to the Constitutional and Supreme Courts. The delegates are to elect five new judges of the Constitutional Court.
The head of the Belhydromet, Sergey Khilman, participates in the meeting as a delegate.
