Overview of agrometeorological situation of August 14, 2026

The formation of the sugar beet crop this year is taking place under conditions of predominantly moderate temperatures, with periods of hot weather being short-lived. Over a significant part of the beet-growing areas, sufficient soil moisture reserves are observed, which ensures good root crop growth. A difficult agrometeorological situation for sugar beet is developing in the Brest region, where a rainfall deficit persists. During the driest periods, in some areas of the region, the reserves of available moisture in the half-meter soil layer decreased to low levels, which negatively affected root crop growth.
According to the latest data, in most beet-growing districts, the average root weight is close to last year's figures, while in the Brest region it is significantly below last year's level. The sugar content of sugar beet roots exceeds last year's figures for this time of year.
In the second half of August, weather conditions will favor further sugar accumulation in the roots. At the same time, due to the expected rainfall deficit, the areas with insufficient soil moisture may increase.
