In the second decade of August, the prevailing temperature regime was below optimal for maize development. Nevertheless, compared to the same period last year, the heat supply for maize is better. The accumulated sum of effective temperatures above +10°C from May to August 20 is higher than during the corresponding period of the previous year. According to the latest observational data, grain filling is underway in the main maize fields – milk ripeness is being observed. In the latest sown crops, ear formation continues. The ongoing rainfall should improve the moisture supply for this crop.
