The recent rains, locally heavy, have increased soil moisture content, most significantly in the northern part and in the central region. Good moistening of the topsoil horizon is observed over most of Belarus. In several areas of the northern half, the upper soil layer is excessively moist. At the same time, due to the uneven distribution of precipitation, a moisture deficit still persists in the southeast of the country.
In the near future, the expected rains should replenish soil moisture content and may locally lead to an expansion of areas with waterlogging.
