The rains observed in the first ten-day period of September replenished moisture reserves, especially in the upper soil layers, but not everywhere. According to the results of instrumental determination of soil moisture under winter grain crops and winter rapeseed, as well as in fields intended for sowing, the content of productive moisture in the soil in the main areas proved to be sufficient for seed germination, the emergence of seedlings, and the further development of plants. In certain districts in the north-east of the republic, moisture reserves are elevated. At the same time, in the southern part of Belarus, where a precipitation deficit has been observed for a long period, moisture reserves are satisfactory and low.
In the near future, over most of the territory of Belarus, agrometeorological conditions for winter sowing will be generally favourable.
