As of February 23, rivers are predominantly covered with ice and feature ice cover with openings (leads), with a thickness of 9-45 cm. However, water on ice has appeared on rivers in the southern and south-western parts of the country, with the ice having darkened in places.
Ice cover remains intact on the Vileyka, Chigirinskoye, Soligorskoye, Zaslavskoye and Krasnaya Sloboda reservoirs, as well as on Lakes Naroch, Drivyaty, Chervonoye and Lukomskoye. The ice thickness there ranges from 33 cm to 46 cm.
Water level fluctuations with a daily intensity of 1-13 cm are observed on the country's rivers.
On the Ptich River (a tributary of the Pripyat River) near the village of Pervaya Slobodka, the water level exceeds the mark at which water begins to spill onto the floodplain.
In the next 24 hours, the aforementioned hydrological conditions are not expected to change significantly.
