During the past period (January 10-14), an increase in ice formation processes was observed everywhere on the rivers and reservoirs of the country.
As of January 15, glaciation with a thickness of 5-25 cm and glaciation with polynyas is observed on most rivers, only on the Dnieper near Mogilev, the Western Dvina near Vitebsk and its individual tributaries, the Neman near Grodno and most of its tributaries, as well as on individual tributaries of the Berezina and the Sozh, there are snow banks and snowdrifts.
A continuous ice cover with a thickness of 10–29 cm has formed on Vileyka, Chygyrin, Zaslawye, Saligorsk, Krasnaya Sloboda reservoirs and on lakes Narach, Dryvyaty, Chervonoye, and Lukoml.
River water levels are fluctuating with daily variations of 1–27 cm. Water levels exceed the floodplain inundation stage on the Neman near the agrotown of Byelitsa, the Viliya near the agrotown of Steshitsy, the Berezina near the town of Byerazino, the Sozh near the town of Slavgorod, and on the Ptsich (a tributary of the Pripyat) near the village of Pershaya Slobodka.
In the coming days, fluctuations in water levels will be observed on rivers, and ice build-up on water bodies will continue.
