As of 20 January, an ice cover with a thickness of 8-29 cm is observed on rivers almost everywhere, with patches of open water noted in places. Ice edges and frazil ice drift are observed on the Neman River near Grodno, the Viliya River near Vileyka, some of their tributaries, as well as on certain tributaries of the Western Bug and Sozh rivers.
On the reservoirs of Vileyka, Chyhyrin, Zaslawye, Salihorsk, and Krasnaya Sloboda, lakes Naroch, Drivyaty, Chervonoye and Lukomskoye, the thickness of the ice cover is 13-45 cm.
Fluctuations in water levels with an intensity of 1-8 cm per day are observed on the country's rivers. Water levels exceed the floodplain inundation stage on the Neman river near the agrotown of Byelitsa, the Viliya river near the agrotown of Steshitsy, the Berezina river near the town of Byerazino, the Sozh river near the town of Slawharad, and on the Ptsich river (a tributary of the Pripyat) near the village of Pershaya Slobodka.
In the coming days, fluctuations in water levels on rivers will persist, and the ice thickness will continue to increase.
