As of January 26, glaciation with a thickness of 6-29 cm was observed on most of country's rivers with isolated patches of open water (polynyas). Frazil ice and ice drift are noted only in certain areas: the Neman near Grodno, the Viliya near Vileyka, on some of their tributaries, as well as on a number of tributaries of the Western Bug, the Dnieper, the Berezina, and the Sozh.
A continuous ice cover, 14-50 cm thick, has formed on the Vileyka, Chyhyrynskaye, Zaslawskaye, Salihorskaye, Krasnaya Sloboda reservoirs, as well as on lakes Narach, Dryvyaty, Chyervonaye, and Lukomlskaye.
On the Neman near Grodno, the Dnieper in the Zhlobin–Rechytsa section, the Berezina near Babruysk and the Pripyat in the Mozyr –Narowlya section, water levels increase with an intensity of up to 11 cm per day. On the remaining stretches of the mentioned rivers, as well as on the Western Dvina, the Viliya, and the Sozh, a decline or steady water level trend is noted.
On the Neman near Bielitsa, the Viliya near Steshytysy, Berezina near Berezino, Sozh near Slavgorod, a tributary of the Pripyat river to the Ptitch near Piershaya Slabodka, water levels exceed the water outlet marks on the floodplain.
In the coming days, fluctuations in water levels will be observed on the rivers, the ice situation will not change significantly.
