Belhydromet hosted a Unified Information Day on life safety issues

Today, July 15, Belhydromet held a Unified Information Day on the topic "Ensuring life safety: from cyberattacks to road safety rules". The meeting of the workforce with representatives of law enforcement agencies and emergency authorities was devoted to the key aspects of personal, digital and public safety of citizens.

First to address the audience was Mikhail Voytetsky, Deputy Head of the Pervomaisky District Emergency Department. He focused in detail on fire safety issues both in the workplace and at home. Special attention was paid to the algorithms of actions in the event of emergencies. He reminded of the importance of maintaining autonomous fire detectors in good working order, and also outlined the rules for safe behaviour near water bodies and in forests during the summer season.

The topic of road traffic safety was covered by Evgeny Zhurikho, Senior State Traffic Inspector of the Traffic Police Department of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee. Evgeny Leonidovich familiarised the staff with the accident statistics in the capital and reminded of the need for strict compliance with the Road Traffic Rules by all road users – both drivers and pedestrians. Special emphasis was placed on the rules for using personal mobility devices (electric scooters, gyroscooters) and on the issues of child road traffic injuries during the summer holidays. As visual aids, short videos analysing typical traffic situations were shown to the participants.

Issues of protection against modern digital threats were covered by Nazar Bukshta, Senior Operative for Particularly Important Cases of the Cybercrime Counteraction Division of the Criminal Police of the Pervomaisky District Administration of Minsk. Nazar Gennadievich examined in detail the most common schemes of Internet fraud, including phishing, vishing, as well as theft of funds from bank cards. The officer cited real-life examples from his practice and gave practical recommendations on ensuring cybersecurity, protecting personal data, and safeguarding accounts in messengers and social networks from unauthorised access. The rules for the safe use of online banking and signs of suspicious messages were also reviewed separately.

The event continued in the format of an active dialogue. Belhydromet employees had the opportunity to ask the invited guests questions of concern and receive competent, comprehensive answers with references to legislation and practical examples.

We thank the representatives of the agencies for their participation and valuable contribution to improving the level of safety culture in our team.
