Belhydromet hosted a Unified Information Day on the theme "Memory in the name of the future"

On June 18, 2026, Belhydromet hosted a Unified Information Day on the theme "Memory in the name of the future."

The event was dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War and emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory to prevent the recurrence of the tragic events of the past. The speaker was Siarhei Khilman, Head of Belhydromet and Delegate to the All-Belarusian People's Assembly.

Participants were presented with information about the heroic feat of the Belarusian people and the value of a peaceful sky overhead. It was underscored that Belarus has lived without wars for over 80 years, and this achievement is the result of a hard-won and earned right to a peaceful life. The memory of the Great Victory, bequeathed to us by the generation of victors, remains an unshakable value, despite attempts to distort history observed in a number of Western countries.
Special attention was paid to countering the falsification of history. It was noted that attempts to diminish the Soviet Union's contribution to the victory over Nazism, the glorification of Nazi criminals and their accomplices – all of these are links in a single chain aimed at reshaping the modern world order to suit certain geopolitical interests.
Nevertheless, Belarus adheres to the principle of maximum truthfulness and frankness in covering the events of the Great Patriotic War. This truth is fundamental to all activities aimed at preserving historical memory.
Historical memory of the Great Patriotic War is recognized as a key factor in the unity of the people and a foundation for the country's development. It was emphasized that the cohesion, patriotism, and national unity demonstrated during the war years and in the post-war period enabled Belarus to become sovereign and economically independent.
In conclusion, the Unified Information Day featured a call for collective efforts to preserve and immortalize the heroic legacy, which has become part of the genetic code of the Belarusian people.

The memory of the Great Patriotic War is a guarantee against the repetition of tragedy and a pledge of peaceful life for future generations.
