Interdepartmental Expert Group on environmental affairs visits Berezinsky Reserve background monitoring station

On June 18, participants of an extended meeting of the Interdepartmental Expert Group on the environmental track of work toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals visited the Berezinsky Reserve background monitoring station of the Vitebskoblhydromet Branch of Belhydromet.

Among the guests were representatives of environmental protection organizations, members of the Interdepartmental Expert Group, the Public Coordinating Environmental Council, the Youth Council under the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, higher education institutions, Youth Ambassadors for the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as representatives of the media and the general public.

During the tour, the participants learned about the station's operations and its significant role in environmental conservation. They were shown modern and standard measuring instruments used for hydrometeorological and actinometric observations.

Special attention was paid to the results of radiation monitoring and environmental pollution monitoring. The guests learned how this data is used to prevent natural disasters and to shape effective environmental policy.

At the conclusion of the tour, the participants thanked the organizers for the informative and educational program.
