At the same time, the agrometeorological conditions for winter sowing, the emergence of seedlings and the further development of winter crops have deteriorated. Due to the lack of precipitation and increased temperature conditions, there is a loss of soil moisture. The top 10-centimeter layer of soil on the territory of Belarus is mostly poorly moistened or dry. According to the results of instrumental determination of moisture in the arable soil horizon, there is also a lack of moisture in many regions of the republic, in Gomel and in places in the east of the Minsk region, the reserves of productive moisture on light soils are poor. Rains of varying intensity expected in the middle of the current decade should moisten the upper layers of the soil. However, due to the uneven distribution of precipitation on part of the areas, the lack of moisture may persist.
