Review of the agrometeorological situation of December 24, 2019
Dangerous events that could cause damage to wintering crops in Belarus are not observed for the past period of calendar winter. Unusually warm weather for this time does not allow winter crops to find a state of deep physiological resting, sluggish vegetation is observed in plants. Soil remains almost thawed according to the latest observational data. Soil temperature at the depth of the tillering site of winter cereals and the root neck of perennial grasses is mostly about zero and slightly positive. Plants lose its hardening in such conditions.
At the end of this week expected decrease in the temperature regime should not be dangerous for winter crops. Winter hardiness of plants is restored with a gradual decrease in air temperature.
