Review of the agrometeorological situation of September 24, 2019
According to data of companies of sugar industry and meteorological stations, mass of sugar-beet root was close to last year values on beet-sowing fields on September, 20. Sugar-beet root was heavier in the end of decade in Grodno region. In early decade, warm weather mainly without precipitations was favorable for the increase of sugar content. In the 2nd pentad because of frost and past rains, agrometeorological conditions for sugar accumulation in root have worsened. Duration of sunglow was longer than average multiyear values in most beet-sowing areas. According to data of companies of sugar industry, average sugariness of root was within base values and a little bit higher on September, 20.
Yellowing of low leaves was registered on the observed fields with sugar-beet. Farms carry out harvest works. In the coming days agrometeorological conditions will contribute to harvest works. However, with the threat of frost, hand-dug crops should not be left on the fields without covering.
