Overview of hydrological situation of December 20, 2021

As of December 20, ice formations are observed on the Western Dvina in the Surazh–Ulla section and most of its tributaries. On the reservoirs Vileyskoye, Chigirinskoye, Zaslavskoye, lakes Chervonoye and Drivyaty there is a thin ice cover, in places with polynyas, on Lake Naroch – zaberegi.
On most rivers of the country, there is an increase in water levels with a daily intensity of 1-9 cm, a decrease in water levels is observed only on the Neman near Grodno, the Dnieper near Mogilev, Sozh near Slavgorod with an intensity of 4-31 cm per day.
In the near future, due to a decrease in air temperature, an effort of ice-forming processes will occur on the rivers, ice jams are possible on the separate sections of the rivers, which will cause sharp daily fluctuations in water levels.
