Overview of hydrological situation of March, 1 2024

In the past day, the tributary of the Western Dvina, river Drysa, near the village of Dernovichi was opened, the Western Dvina near Vitebsk, its tributary the Ulla River, the Dnieper near Zhlobin and the Sozh near Slavgorod were cleared of ice formations.
As of March 1, ice formation and ice formation with rims are observed on the Western Dvina near the town of Surazh, the village of Ulla, the Sozh near the town of Krichev and its tributary the Besed River, in places the ice has lifted which precedes the opening. On the reservoirs Chigirinskoye, Zaslavskoye, Vileyskoye, lakes Naroch, Lukomskoye and Drivyaty, ice formation and ice formation with rims are noted, spaces with an open water surface increase in the ice cover, the ice drifts away from the shore, it is impossible to go out on the ice.
The increase in water levels persists on the rivers of the basins of the Western Dvina, the Neman, the Berezina and the Sozh with an intensity of 1-44 cm per day, on the rivers of the basins of the Dnieper and the Pripyat fluctuations in water levels with an intensity of 1-8 cm per day are observed, on the rivers of the Vilia basin water levels decrease with an intensity of 1-10 cm per day. Most rivers have floodplain water.
Water levels exceed dangerously high levels on the Pripyat at Chernichi village, Petrikov town, its tributaries the Ptich River at Persha Slobodka village, Sluch at agrotown Lenin, Tsna at agrotown Dyatlovichi, on the Neman tributary of the Shchara River near Slonim, the Dnieper tributary of the Drut River near Gorodishche village and the Sozh tributary of the Pronya River near Letyagi village.
The water level is close to the dangerous mark in the Pripyat near the city of Mozyr, 6 cm remains before it is reached, there is an increase in the water level with an intensity of 1 cm per day.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, flooding of coastal territories is noted in most areas of the Gomel and Mogilev regions, in some areas of the Brest, Grodno, Minsk and Vitebsk regions.
In the coming days an increase in water levels will be observed on the rivers of the Western Dvina basin, as a result of which the level on the Disna River near the town of Sharkovshchyna will approach a dangerously high level. The rest of the country's rivers will experience fluctuations in water levels with a tendency to increase. The melting of ice and the purification of rivers from ice formations will continue.
