Overview of hydrological situation of March 14, 2023
In the past day, the Neman, Vilia, and Dnieper ice formations on the Orsha–Mogilev section, separate tributaries of the Zapadnaya Dvina, Zapadnaya Bug and Berezina were completely cleared of ice formations.
As of March 14 on the Zapadnaya Dvina near the town of Surazh and settlement Ulla, Sozh at the city of Krichev and some of their tributaries, ice and ice with polynyas are preserved, water on ice is noted. On the rest of the above-mentioned rivers, as well as on certain sections of the Berezina, the Dnieper and the Pripyat tributary of the Ptich river, there are fences and shugohod. On the lakes Lukomskoye, Drivyaty, Chervonoye, Naroch, reservoirs Vileyskoye, Zaslavskoye, Chigirinskoye and Soligorskoye, there is ice, incomplete ice, ice with edges and dilutions, there is water on the ice, and on the reservoir Krasnaya Sloboda – zaberegi.
On rivers, almost everywhere there is an increase in water levels with a daily intensity of 1-15 cm. The water is located on the floodplain on most rivers of the Pripyat basin, some rivers of the Neman, Vilia, Zapadny Bug, Dnieper, Berezina and Sozh basins.
In Pripyat, near the town of Petrikov, the water level exceeds a dangerously high mark. Water levels are close to dangerously high levels on the Pripyat near the village of Chernichi, its tributaries the rivers Sluch near settlement Lenin and the Bird at the village of Persha Slobodka.
River flooding persists in a number of districts of the Gomel region.
In the coming days, the melting of the ice cover and the purification of riverbeds from ice formations will occur, the growth of water levels will continue.
