Overview of hydrological situation of March 15, 2023

In the past day, the Dnieper river in the area of Rechitsa, Berezina in the area of Berezino and the tributaries of the Zapadnaya Dvina river Ulla, Nacha and Disna were cleared of ice formations. A tributary of the Berezina, the Besed river at settlement Svetilovichi, was opened.
As of March 15, glaciation and glaciation with polynyas are observed on the Zapadnaya Dvina near the town of Surazh and settlement Ulla, its tributaries of the rivers Usvyacha, Obol, Polota and Drysa, water on ice is noted here, ice has lifted in places, ice has moved on the Sozh near the town of Krichev, which precedes the opening. Ice formayions and residual formations are noted in certain sections of the Zapadnaya Dvina, the Dnieper near Zhlobin, the Sozh near Slavgorod, its tributaries the Oster, Besed rivers and the Pripyat tributary the Ptich river. An ice drift is observed on the Berezina near Borisov. Glaciation is noted on lakes and reservoirs, glaciation with polynyas, edges and divorces, water on ice is observed. The thickness of the ice sheet ranges from 7 cm to 32 cm, despite this, the ice has darkened and lost its strength, which poses a serious threat to life when moving on the ice.
On rivers there is an increase in water levels with a daily intensity 1-59 cm, only in the Pripyat basin the intensity of the rise is small from 1 cm to 4 cm per day. The water is located on the floodplain on most rivers of the Pripyat basin, some rivers of the Neman, Vilia, Zapadny Bug, Dnieper, Berezina and Sozh basins.
In Pripyat, near the town of Petrikov, the water level exceeds a dangerously high mark. Water levels are close to dangerously high levels on the Pripyat near the village of Chernichi, its tributaries the rivers Sluch near settlement Lenin and the Bird at the village of Pershaya Slobodka. 
River flooding persists in a number of districts of the Gomel region.
In the coming days, the increase in water levels on the rivers will continue, Sozh will be opened in the area of Krichev.
