Overview of hydrological situation of March, 7 2024
Over the past day the water level in the Sozh near Gomel exceeded a dangerously high mark.
As of March 7, an increase in water levels with an intensity of 1-15 cm per day is observed on the Neman near Grodno, the Dnieper on the Zhlobin – Loev section, the Berezina near Berezino, the Sozh near Gomel and some of their tributaries. Throughout the rest of the above-mentioned rivers, as well as on the rivers of the basins of the Western Dvina, Vilia and Pripyat, there is a decrease in water levels and their smooth course. Most rivers have floodplain water.
Water levels exceed dangerously high levels on the Sozh near Gomel, the Pripyat near Chernichi village, Petrikov, its tributaries the Ptich River near Persha Slobodka village, the Sluch near agrotown Lenin, the Tsna at agrotown Dyatlovichi, on the Neman tributary of the Shchara River near Slonim and the Sozh tributary of the Pronya River near the village Letyagi.
Water levels are close to dangerous levels on the Neman near the town of Stolbtsy, 18 cm remains before it is reached, there is a smooth course of the water level here and on the Pripyat near the town of Mozyr, 10 cm remains before it is reached, there is a decrease in the water level with an intensity of 2 cm per day.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, flooding of coastal territories is noted in most areas of the Gomel and Mogilev regions, in some areas of the Brest, Grodno, Minsk and Vitebsk regions.
The ice sheet with rims remains only on the Western Dvina near the town of Surazh. Freeze-up is observed on the reservoirs Chigirinskoye, Zaslavskoye, Vileyskoye, lakes Naroch, Lukomskoye and Drivyaty, however, polynyas and rims increase in the ice cover, the ice melts in place.
In the coming days, the nature of the weather will cause a decrease in water levels on most of the country's rivers. The melting of ice on reservoirs will continue.
