Overview of hydrological situation of November 24, 2023
In the past period (November 21-23), due to negative air temperatures, ice formations appeared on the water bodies of the country in the form of snowflakes and snowdrifts.
As of November 24, ice formations are observed in the upper reaches of the Western Dvina and the Vilia, the greater part of the Berezina, some sections of the Sozh, most of their tributaries, as well as some tributaries of the Dnieper and the Pripyat. On the Krasnaya Sloboda reservoir, the lakes Drivyaty and the Naroch, there are fences, and a thin ice cover is observed on Lake Chervonoye.
In the basins of the Western Dvina, the Dnieper, the Berezina and the Sozh, fluctuations in water levels are observed, sometimes sharp (up to 64 cm per day), due to ice-forming processes. In the basins of the Neman, the Vilia and the Pripyat, there is an increase in water levels with a daily intensity of up to 5 cm per day.
On the tributary of the Dnieper, the Ivnya-Bond canal at the village of Budka, the tributaries of the Pripyat, the Sluch rivers at at agro-town Lenin and Ptich at the village of Pershaya Slobodka, the water is on the floodplain.
Unfavorable conditions for the operation of river transport remain on the Neman near Grodno.
In the coming days, as a result of the unstable nature of the weather on the rivers, there will be fluctuations in water levels, sometimes sharp, due to the formation of ice jams.
