"In modern conditions, sustainable socio-economic development of the state is possible only in tandem with the environmental agenda. Environmental issues in Belarus are at the highest level of consideration and control by the head of state and the government. In addition, ecology is one of the main priorities of our country, since a healthy environment is the basis of our life. If there is a healthy nation then there will be an efficient economy in our country," said Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Andrei Khudyk.
9.1% of the area of Belarus are specially protected natural territories. "This year we will create a new Red Book. I am sure that some species of plants and animals will be excluded, since there is an increase in populations. Thanks to fruitful work and compliance with the legislative framework, our country is a real example for the post-Soviet space. Despite Western sanctions, we remain parties to international conventions, and also fulfill our obligations. We are ready for negotiations and are meeting with Western representatives today to confirm our readiness for dialogue and cooperation in the field of environmental conservation" ,Andrei Khudyk stressed.
Andrey Khudyk expressed confidence that "ECOLOGY EXPO" will become the most important presentation platform for innovations in the field of ecology, will ensure the further development of "green" technologies, will facilitate the establishment of business contacts in environmental issues.
"We are ready for cooperation and partnership not only with our nearest neighbors, but also with the countries of the far abroad. After all, nature knows no borders, which means that the task of preserving mnature is relevant for the entire world community," he added.
